34 Queen Anne's Gate

One of the most interesting buildings in Queen Anne's Gate. On the site was originally 2 red brick houses of the Dutch style, similar to the others extant in the street. By the end of the 18th century they were in very poor condition and consequently demolished. A single grand townhouse was built c.1810 which in turn was substantially demolished in 1910 and rebuilt and extended in its current form by the architect Detmar Blow. For many years it was used as the St Stephen's Constitutional Club and now the ground and garden floors are occupied by the re-formed and re-named St Stephen's Club. Now comprising 2 leasehold interests, the total building size is more than 13,000 sq ft.
