20 Old Queen Street

20 Old Queen Street is a Grade II listed Arts and Crafts Masterpiece of c.4,700 sq ft, built in 1909 by the architect F.W. Troup as a bespoke Freehold house for Henry Gage Spicer of Paper Merchants fame. Troup was a contemporary of Lutyens who, in addition to his Arts and Crafts work, carried out a number of commissions in Old Queen St and adjacent Queen Anne's Gate.

As with the best of Arts and Crafts architecture, the design of the house is one of considerable and pleasant surprises. From the understated entrance in Old Queen Street to the magnificent bow fronted facade overlooking private gardens and St James's Park: From the octagonal entrance hall to the barrel-vaulted reception hall and staircase - each turn of the corner reveals something new and interesting.

This is one of London's hidden architectural gems.
